Huawei to Construct Mobile WiMAX Network in Tajikistan

Tajikistani telecommunications operator Babilon-T has chosen Chinese communications network equipment provider Huawei to construct its mobile WiMAX network, according to a press release by Huawei.

 

The network is projected to cover Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan, and three other major regions. As per the contract, Huawei will deliver end-to-end mobile WiMAX solutions including distributed base stations, wireless access service node gateways, network management equipment, as well as terminals.

 

Reported to be the first commercial WiMAX network in Central Asia, Babilon-T's mobile WiMAX network is expected to begin deployment soon and is slated for launch in the first quarter of 2008.
